Q & A

  1. What does the GRN mean by recycling, reuse, salvage and liquidation?

Recycling is the process by which waste materials are converted for use as "raw" materials into other products.
Scrap refers to materials intended for recycling.
Reuse is simply to reuse an item as it currently is intended.
Salvage is the process of recapturing items for reuse.
A GRN Liquidation is the removal of some or all items for salvage and/or recycling that will provide the most value back to a project.
  2. Where do the recycled items go?

The items go to the highest value recycling marketplaces. The marketplaces are constantly in flux, and the GRN recycling specialists keep up with the current and emerging markets for a large array of recyclable materials. Your company will be provided documentation at the end of the process by type of material and weight. This is important especially for green building certification. The same process applies for the salvageable materials.
  3. What is the priority for salvaging and recycling items for our company?

The Green Recycling Network’s primary focus is to provide the maximum dollar value back to your project. We do this by following the US EPA hierarchy of reuse, then recycle, then landfill. Read about our process or some of our case studies to help clarify how we can help your company.
  4. Can you provide a presentation of your process and services to our company?

Yes. We commonly do presentations when asked, primarily within the Mid-Atlantic region. To schedule a GRN presentation for your company, please contact us.
  5. Are there delays using your process over traditional deconstruction/disposal?

The short answer is no. Early planning can result in highly efficient methods to remove the materials from your project that are as fast or faster than traditional disposal methods. The GRN has an excellent record of meeting time constraints for our customers.
  6. Who is responsible for complying with regulations and other legal issues involved using the Green Recycling Network process?

The GRN is responsible. All of the companies within our network are licensed and certified according to local, state and federal regulations.
  7. What are some of the specific services that the GRN offers?

    Construction Waste Management Plans

  8. We are not really concerned about going “green” as much as we are about reducing our waste disposal costs.  Is the GRN only for buildings or businesses that are focused on going “green?”

The GRN is focused primarily on improving the efficiency and financial aspects of
your waste disposal and/or salvage operations. We do this with practical solutions to help your company, building or business achieve its full potential, whether it means “going green” or not.
  9. Can the GRN liquidate an entire building and all of its contents such that little ends up in landfills?

Yes, we have a track record of diverting more than 90% of entire buildings and their contents from landfills, if we are brought into the process early enough. The key is bringing the GRN early in the process and prior to demo bidding.
  10. We are not renovating or deconstructing our building, can you just liquidate our furniture and/or equipment?

Yes, we have a network of liquidation specialists who focus on specific industries such as hotels, office furniture, hospitals, labs, grocery stores and industrial equipment. The power of our network results in a strong knowledge of the marketplace and gives you the ability to obtain the highest possible values for salvaged and recycled items.
  11. Are there other services the GRN provides?

Yes, besides deconstruction, liquidation, salvaging and recycling, we also provide
    Green Business consulting.
